Music Presentations at Our Church
The Music Staff and Volunteers John Spradling - Music Minister Joyce McCartney - Organist Shirley Mapstone - Joyful Sounds Choir Mary
Schwarz - Praise Team Choir At Manlius First Baptist we believe that music should also fill our church, corporately and individually. Our primary ministry is to the Lord. As Jesus said, "But I, when I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself" (John 12:32). As we exalt the Lord by declaring His word and so minister to His heart, He will draw the world to Himself. We believe that music is important and a Biblically encouraged way to exalt the Lord and declare God's word. It is a wonderful way to communicate God's truth and draw people to Him. Music is also a means to express our personal devotion to love for God. When we gather in the church sanctuary or in some other setting, music is a part of our worship. Our music ministry does not mean demonstrating God's glory by showing how beautiful we can sing or play, nor will God be exalted in our striving to achieve musical perfection. Our call can be found in what Jesus called the greatest commandment: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind." (Matt 22:37) When our desire is to love the Lord. we will make every effort to offer our best to Him. This desire is reflected in music ministry. Whether we sing a great hymn of the faith, clap to the tune of a contemporary chorus, or listen to a classical anthem from the choir, we want to glorify the Lord and honor Jesus Christ in all we do.
